It’s March. We’re still rolling so let’s get the people what they want, the picks:
St John’s/Providence o150.5
Miss St -5.5
This is a game of polar opposites. The Nets are rolling. They’re 9-1 SU and ATS in their last 10. Kyrie and Harden have been a PROBLEM and KD isn’t even back. On the other hand, the Rockets are on a 12 game losing streak and have only covered 1 of those games. And oh by the way, I’d have to guess that Harden will have a chip on his shoulder since its the Rockets. This will get ugly.
I was going to take the Hornets in this game regardless, but Gordon Hayward is looking like he’s going to play. The Hornets haven’t been completely terrible without him and LaMelo is getting more and more comfortable each game. The TWolves haven’t been at full strength all year and that will continue tonight, no DLo or Malik Beasley, take the Hornets.
Neither of these teams are good. The Pelicans are frauds with a lot of young stars so people keep defending them, but their defense is abysmal. They switched it up and adjusted their tempo to play fast and try to mask it, but it’s too inconsistent. I also think they blew their load against the Jazz the other night. For the Bulls, at least they know who they are. Feed LaVine. They always seem to be in games until the fourth quarter, so take the points in a tight game of two bad teams.
The Terps are rolling. 5 straight wins, albeit against a weaker schedule of late. That’s the thing, a weak B1G schedule is better than most teams’ average schedule. That said, they get lowly Northwestern tonight. Long road trip for the Terps, but they know that they have to continue showing out to make the tourney. It’s Darryl Morsell’s senior year and he’s playing like it. Back the Terps in a full on team effort.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. UConn is different when James Bouknight is on the floor. Their only loss since he’s been back has been to Villanova. Seton Hall has been struggling so take the resurgent Huskies to keep marching towards the tourney.
St. John’s/Providence o150.5
These teams played about a month ago and combined for 170+ points. St. John’s is really underrated. Posh Alexander is a stud and they play at the 12th best pace in the nation with the 39th most efficient offense, per KenPom. If they get going, look for them to put up points again tonight. Providence plays slow, but no one can seem to control tempo against the Johnnies.
Miss St -5.5
I’m taking this game for 1 reason and 1 reason only. Texas A&M has been on a long Covid pause and didn’t play a single game in February. I usually have just bet blindly against teams coming off of Covid layoffs and it’s been rather successful. Go Bulldogs.
