Alright boys, we’re back on the wagon. NBA Friday, lots of small school college hoops and I hate both hockey games tonight. The two CBB games tip at 4 and 6 so get your bets in now.
GC’s Picks 2/12/21
Mount St Marys/LIU u137
Nice little bounce back spot for Charlotte tonight. The TWolves looked good in KAT’s return, but now D’Angelo Russell is out of the lineup. The backcourt for Charlotte should have a day and Devonte Graham should be back tonight as well. Lay the small number against one of the NBA’s worst teams.
I was originally going to take OKC +12 and the over in this game, but Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is out. Truthfully, I’m not sure how OKC scores with him out of the game. George Hill is also out so OKC will be struggling to find someone to run the offense. Without SGA or Hill in, the Nuggets should be able to control the tempo and they play a little on the slower side. Take the under.
Knicks -2.5 vs the Wizards
Beal is out for the Wizards. When Russ plays, the Wizards have 2 wins. Replacing 30+ points per game wont be easy to do against one of the leagues best defensive teams.
Jazz -2.5 vs the Bucks
This is the first time the Bucks have been underdogs all season and for good reason. They’re on the fifth game of a six game road trip and fatigue could set in here. On top of that the Jazz continue to roll, they’re 18-6-1 ATS and 20-5 straight up, good enough for the top spot in the Wstern Conference. They’re coming off of a 12 point win against the Celtics, who I think are better than the Bucks, even though they’re struggling. Take the Jazz until further notice, they’re a money train.
Jumping into some small school college hoops, this game between Mount St Mary’s and LIU is a battle of top tier NEC teams and a rematch from yesterday. The total was 138 and the teams combined for 126. MSM is the better team and plays great defense. If they can control the pace of play like they did yesterday, this game will go under again.
I like this game to go over the total for two reasons, Marshall can score and they can score quickly. They’re 29th in tempo and 67th in offensive effieciency according to KenPom. MTSU scores about 62 points per game, and they don’t play terribly slow, but I expect Marshall to push the pace. More chances for MTSU should equate to more points. I think this game is a blowout, but the spread is a little too high for my liking. Let’s take the Thundering Herd to run it up and hope MTSU gets a few more buckets than usual.
